THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is set to bring its job fairs to shopping malls so that employment facilitation services can be brought closer to job seekers.
In a statement, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said they are set to partner with different shopping malls to serve as official venues for the agency’s job fairs.
“(They) will serve as valuable mechanisms in expanding our existing network, where private partners extend their resources towards employment facilitation services,” said Laguesma.
“The collaboration is expected to have a substantial impact, particularly among first-time job seekers, who can access our other employment services,” he added.
Laguesma issued the statement after DOLE signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.
Under the MOA, Megaworld shall waive rent and utility charges during job fairs and other DOLE-initiated activities, as well as assist in marketing the events through the free use of standees and billboards, online announcements, and traditional media.
DOLE, on the other hand, shall use the premises provided exclusively for the operation of its satellite job fairs and other DOLE-initiated activities, while abiding by the mall’s regulations and safety and security policies.
Among the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls tapped are Central Plaza in Eastwood City in Quezon City; Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, Manila City; Arcovia City in Pasig City; Venice Piazza in McKinley Hill, Taguig City; The Village Square in Alabang, Muntinlupa City; Clark Cityfront in Clark, Pampanga; Southwoods Mall in Biñan, Laguna; Iloilo Festive Walk in Mandurriao, Iloilo City; and The Mactan Newtown in Mactan, Cebu.
DOLE disclosed that similar MOAs were also signed with SM Supermalls and Robinsons Land Corporation back in April.
