MORE than two weeks after a work stoppage order (WSO) was issued against the Skyway Extension Project due to a deadly accident, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has fully lifted the injunction, according to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

“I already ordered the lifting of the whole WSO for the entire project, including the area, where the accident took place (last November 20),” Bello said in an online briefing.

He said the contractor, EEI Corp., as well as subcontractors Mayon Machinery Rentrade Inc. and Bauer Foundations Philippines Inc., have complied with occupational safety and health (OSH) standards and other protocols.

He added the administrative fines of P500,000 have been settled by the contractor and subcontractors.

A motorcycle driver was killed and at least six others were injured when a steel bar from a portion of the Skyway extension project in Muntinlupa City crashed onto passing vehicles below it on November 21.

This resulted to the issuance of a WSO over the affected area of the construction project by the DOLE-NCR as well as a mandatory labor inspection.
