THE Department of Health (DOH) yesterday dismissed the 10 percent increase in the average coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases and said there is nothing to worry about the hike.
In a press briefing yesterday, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said they are not alarmed over the uptick reported in the country.
“This is not significant if we try to compare that to our weekly average number of cases,” said Vergeire, adding: “For now, we can say that everything is manageable.”
Vergeire was seconded by DOH – National Capital Region Director Aleli Sudiacal who said all areas in Metro Manila have declining number of COVID-19 cases.
“All NCR local government units have decreasing rates. In fact, some of them, or about a third of them have not been reporting any cases,” said Sudiacal.
On Monday, the DOH reported that the average COVID-19 daily cases in the country have climbed by 10 percent in the past week.
Similarly, the independent OCTA Research group said Metro Manila and six provinces in the country saw increasing positivity rates over the past seven days.
The DOH also noted that all parts of the country, except Mindanao, are showing plateauing trends.
