THE Department of Health (DOH) yesterday said there is a 10 percent drop in the number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases reported daily over the past seven days.
An average of 2,288 cases daily were reported for the period of September 26 to October 2, according to the health department’s COVID-19 case bulletin. In total, the last seven days recorded a total of 16,017 cases.
The number is 10 percent lower than cases reported from September 19 to 25.
Just a week ago, the average daily cases went up by 22 percent for the period of September 19 to 25 compared to the period of September 12 to 18.
Of the new cases, there were four additional severe and critical case while 228 deaths were reported.
The DOH said there are 753 severe and critical cases in the country, as of October 2. Of the total severe and critical cases, the report showed that 611 of them are occupying ICU beds.
The number of occupied ICU beds account for the 24.3 percent of the 2,515 total nationwide.
On the other hand, there are 5,579 COVID-19 patients who are occupying COVID-19 beds, which is 26.2 percent of the 21,316 total COVID-19 beds allocated nationwide.
