THE Department of Health (DOH) yesterday said the oral polio vaccine (OPV) will remain available to the public even after the two-week Synchronized Polio vaccination campaign ended yesterday.

DOH Undersecretary Eric Domingo said parents and caregivers can still have their children administered with OPVs in local health centers.

“For children under 5 who did not receive their OPV, they can go to their health centers anytime,” said Domingo. “Full vaccination against the polio virus is the best way to prevent the transmission of the disease.”

Yesterday, the Synchronized Polio Vaccination campaign in Lanao del Sur, Marawi City, Davao del Sur, and Davao City, as well as in Metro Manila ended.

Domingo said they decided against extending the two-week immunization campaign.

The vaccination campaign, which started last October 14, will be expanded to the whole of Mindanao on November 25 and will be concluded with the last round of vaccination on January 6, 2020.
