THE Department of Health (DOH) yesterday expressed satisfaction over the resumption of face-to-face classes amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“We are in constant coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) and, so far, all our reminders and protocols have been implemented,” said DOH Officer-in-Charge Ma. Rosario Vergeire.

“So far, so good,” she added.

Last week, the DepEd reported that no students and teachers have so far contracted COVID-19 since the opening of classes last August 22.

Vergeire, however, noted that they have observed instances of crowding, especially among parents and guardians fetching their kids.

“We have already coordinated with local government units and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to maintain the traffic of people, avoid crowding, and thus reduce chances of infection,” said Vergeire.

She said they have also asked school and local officials to continuously encourage parents, guardians, and teachers to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Continuously encouraging parents and teachers to get vaccinated remains part of our overall strategies,” said Vergeire.

Last August 22, school year 2022-2023 opened with students from all levels returning to their respective campuses.
