PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. is “is on his way to a complete recovery,” suffering only from a “very mild nasal stuffiness and nasal itchiness” after he tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) last Friday, his physician said yesterday.
Dr. Samuel Zacate issued the medical bulletin after conducting a face-to-face check up on Marcos at around 10:30 Monday morning in the President’s residence.
“He is still with no fever and body malaise. His cough disappeared but still with very mild nasal stuffiness and nasal itchiness, therefore additional medication was given to address his concern and all other medicines were advised to be continued. On examination, his vital signs are all within normal limits and exemplary. He doesn’t experience any additional signs and symptoms. His throat still has no noticeable inflammation and no signs of respiratory compromise,” Zacate said.
“In my clinical opinion, he is on his way to a complete recovery,” he said, adding that Marcos’ fast recovery was due to his being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and his good health status.
The President on July 8 tested positive of COVID-19 and experienced mild fever, nasal stuffiness, nasal itchiness, and mild occasional non-productive cough. An RT-PCR test was later made on the President, which confirmed he was infected with the coronavirus.
Marcos was advised to undergo home isolation for seven days in compliance with the Department of Health protocol for fully vaccinated individuals.
This is the second time that Marcos tested positive for COVID-19, the first time at the height of the pandemic in 2020.
Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla yesterday said he is set to report back to work on Thursday after he tested negative for COVID-19 in his latest antigen test.
“I’m okay already, I have tested negative in antigen testing the past two days. But quarantine protocols is seven days, so (I am) working from home now,” Remulla said in a text message to reporters.
On Sunday, Remulla said he tested positive for the coronavirus after undergoing a test last week. He said he experienced mild symptoms. — With Ashzel Hachero
