THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday said the arrested and detained overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Japan would be provided with the necessary assistance.

In a statement, DMW Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the government is prepared to aid the OFW which is being linked to the death of a Japanese couple whose bodies were found in their home in Tokyo last week.

“We assure our kababayan and his family of our utmost assistance in close coordination with Ambassador Milen Garcia and the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo,” Cacdac said.

He said he has directed the Migrant Workers Office in Tokyo (MWO-Tokyo) to meet with the OFW to ascertain his condition and determine any immediate needs he may require.

“More than adequate legal assistance to the detained OFW is assured,” said Cacdac.
