THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday warned the public anew against the continuing proliferation of bogus overseas jobs offered online.

In its Advisory No. 26-2024, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the public must be vigilant against jobs abroad being offered online, especially via social media.

“DMW urges the public to be wary of fraudulent overseas job postings circulating on Facebook groups, social media platforms, and other websites pretending to be authentic online job portals,” said Cacdac.

“These postings often misuse the names, addresses, and logos of legitimate recruitment agencies, and may involve direct hiring schemes that are illegal without DMW approval,” he also said.

Instead of relying on such online job offers, the DMW chief said it would be best if interested workers visit the official website of the department (www.dmw.gov.ph) to view the listing of approved job orders, the information regarding licensed recruitment and manning agencies, the schedule of job fairs offering accredited overseas job orders, and the recruitment specification forms (RSFs) for job opportunities under the government-to-government recruitment program of the DMW.

“The DMW encourages Filipino workers seeking overseas employment to deal only with licensed recruitment agencies,” said Cacdac.

For those with encounters with such entities, Cacdac said the can report them to the Migrant Workers Protection Bureau via email address (mwpb@dmw.gov.ph) and telephone number (8721-0619).

“The DMW requests the public to report any suspicious or suspected illegal activities about online recruitment scams,” said Cacdac.
