THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has renewed its warning against the presence of illegal recruiters online that are targeting those bidding to become overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

In a social media post, the DMW said the public should be cautious against individuals or groups that pose as licensed recruitment agencies but are transacting online.

“Once their emails or messages sent include asking for money, this is a scam,” said the DMW.

In dealing with recruitment agencies, the department stressed that it must be done in the actual office of the firm.

“If you pay for any transaction, there must be an accompanying official receipt,” added the DMW.

The Department reiterated that the public must verify the legitimacy of the recruitment agency and its job offers.

“You can check the ‘Licensed Recruitment Agencies’ and ‘Approved Job Order’ at the DMW website to know if they are indeed licensed agencies and have approved job orders,” said the FDA.

The renewed warning comes after reports that there are offers online to work in Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
