THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) injured during a rainstorm in Hong Kong over the weekend are deemed “out of danger.”
The spouses were hurt in a landslide in a resort in Sai Kung while taking photos and video of the damage to the resort facility where they were working.
The DMW said how the wife, who sustained head injuries, was discharged from hospital on Monday while the husband was successfully operated on for his leg injury and remains in the hospital for observation.
In Taiwan and Indonesia, the DMW said no OFW was reported injured.
Two magnitude 5.9 earthquakes rocked Taiwan late Monday.
“We are reaching out to Filipino leaders, communities, employers, and trade associations to ascertain the status of OFWs,” said the DMW.
According to Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration (CWA), the first quake was recorded at 5:45 p.m. The DMW said the second tremor took place seven minutes later. Last month, a magnitude-7.2 quake struck Taiwan with a total of 16 OFWs getting injured.
Indonesia was hit by heavy rains that started last Friday and resulted in flash floods.
Fifteen people have reportedly died while over 1,300 families were affected by the floods and landslides.
