THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday said no overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were on board the British tanker Marlin Luanda that was attacked in the Gulf of Aden.
In a post on X, DMW Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac said no Filipino seafarers were on board the vessel hit by a missile fired by the Houthi movement.
“The oil tanker reportedly attacked in the Gulf of Aden, the Marlin Luanda, has no Filipino crew on board,” said Cacdac.
“There is no record of the ship in the DMW database,” he added.
Last Friday, the Marlin Luanda caught on fire after being hit by a missile fired by the Houthis.
All crew members of the Marshall Islands-flagged ship are reportedly safe and are now sailing towards a safe harbor.
