THE Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) is now free for all returning overseas Filipino workers, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced yesterday.
“The issuance of all forms of overseas employment certificate (OEC) for rehires or Balik-Manggagawa (BM) shall be free of charge effective 29 July 2023, 12:01 am (Philippine Time),” said DMW officer-in-charge Undersecretary Bernard Olalia.
Olalia said the DMW shall stop charging the P100 processing fee for the OECs based on Memorandum No. 110, which was issued in accordance with the provisions of Department Circular No. 02-2023 issued last month prior to the launching of the new OFW Pass.
The OFW Pass is set to fully replace the OEC after the 60-day transition period.
With the OEC now free of charge, the DMW said the processing of the OECs will no longer require the issuance of an official receipt.
Consequently, the DMW said unused official receipt forms for OEC collection must be properly accounted for. — Gerard Naval
