TROPICAL storm “Dindo” was expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday and projected to make landfall on Tuesday morning at the eastern part of China, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.
As of 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dindo was some 410 km northeast Basco, Batanes, and moving northwestward at 15 kph. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
Dindo intensified to a tropical depression, from a low pressure area, on Friday night. It further strengthened into a tropical storm on Saturday night.
Weather specialist Ariel Rojas said Dindo is far from the land mass to affect any part of the country.
Roxas also said Dindo is expected to intensify into a severe tropical storm after exiting the Philippines.
PAGASA said the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Central Luzon region will experience occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also due to the southwest monsoon.
Caraga and Davao regions will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of a low pressure pressure in the eastern section of Mindanao.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies to at times cloudy with rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
