THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is now allowing returning household service workers (HSWs) to be deployed to Pakistan.

Based on DMW Advisory No. 22, DMW Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac said Balik-Manggagawa (BM) HSWs may now depart for Pakistan.

“This Department hereby informs the public on the lifting of the suspension on the deployment of returning (Balik-Manggagawa) household service workers bound for Pakistan,” said Cacdac.

But he added the deployment ban to newly-hired HSWs for Pakistan remains in effect.

“This Advisory reiterates the suspension of deployment of new-hire HSWs bound to the said country, pending the outcome of a consultation meeting between this Department and the DFA on the matter,” said Cacdac.

He said the policy is based on the recommendations of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

“(This is) based on the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on 27 March 2023, and the Philippine Embassy in Pakistan on 07 July 2023,” noted Cacdac.
