DepEd: Teachers to receive ‘21 allowance in 2 to 3 weeks

TEACHERS may receive their long-delayed 2021 performance-based bonus (PBB) in two to three weeks, the Department of Education said yesterday.

Education Assistant Secretary Francis Bringas, however, said that will only happen if all the 15 remaining regions are able to immediately submit the revised form required by the Department of Budget and Management.

Bringas told radio DZBB that only Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, Mimarapo and Calabarzon have so far submitted the form required by the DBM.

Form 1.0, according to Bringas, is needed for the PBB to be released by the DBM.

“Ang pag-process ng DBM for all the regions will have to be between two to three weeks because of the voluminous recipients of DepEd so they have to process for 15 regions and usually it takes two to three weeks,” Bringas explained.

This is because some of the forms submitted have duplicate entries while others have personnel indicated that are not found in the department’s Plantilla of Personnel and Personal Services Itemization.

Teachers in Metro Manila may receive their PBB earlier than their counterparts from other regions as the DBM has already issued a Special Allotment Release Order and Notice of Cash Allocation amounting to P950.9 million to DepEd for school-based persons eligible to receive the bonus.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers has slammed the DepEd for the continued delay in the release of the PBB incentive.

“Teachers have already worked for this in 2021. DepEd has all the time to process it accordingly and in a timely manner. It’s two years delayed, and it will again be delayed due to the failure of DepEd to ensure that the forms that it submitted to the DBM were correct,” ACT chairperson Vladimer Quetua said.
