THE Department of Education yesterday said it is probing the alleged sexual advances made by six teachers on students at the Bacoor National High School in Cavite.
DepEd spokesperson Michael Tan Poa said the school division of Bacoor City was alerted about the problem last week after a social media post on the students’ experiences went viral last August 28.
“An investigation is already being conducted. There were six teachers mentioned in the posts. All six were not given any teaching load and are currently on floating status,” said.
“This is very, very disturbing. I have already spoken to the undersecretary concerned. We will refer this to our Child Protection Committee,” Poa added.
A Twitter user who uses the handle @eexpresso shared the alleged sexual abuse experiences suffered by the students.
The thread was originally posted on Facebook but was deleted for allegedly violating community standards.
On the Twitter thread, one of the teachers even posted photos of his students on his social media accounts and making sexual innuendos.
In one post, a Facebook user commented on the teacher’s post “ang daming masarap ha” with the teacher responding “ay naku sinabi mo pa.”
Recently, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte asked the National Bureau of Investigation to probe the alleged reports of emotional, verbal, and sexual abuse in the Philippine High School for the Arts in Laguna.
