EDUCATION Secretary Leonor Briones has received a 60 percent approval rating, tops among all Cabinet members, while the DepEd got 73 percent, also the highest among line agencies in the executive branch, according to Pulse Asia.
In its September survey, Pulse Asia said awareness for Briones grew to 93% from 75% last year, gaining a significant increase in the National Capital Region, Luzon, and the Visayas.”
It added that her performance approval rose in the rural areas from 62% to 78%.
Reacting to the survey findings, Briones said the agency will pursue its mission to deliver basic education even in this time of health crisis.
“This only shows that more Filipinos appreciate the commitment and effort of the Department in offering learning opportunities and hope amidst these uncertain times. We will use this trust of our people as motivation in pushing for more reforms in basic education,” she said.
Briones expressed her gratitude to the teachers, learners, parents, and partners for their overwhelming support, adding “the past months were not easy for education but the whole community rallied behind the Department for learning to continue.” — Noel Talacay
