Dengue cases now at 118K

AMID the rainy season, the Department of Health (DOH) yesterday reported that dengue cases in the country has now increased to over 118,000.

The DOH’s National Dengue Data showed 118,785 dengue cases reported from January 1 to August 13.

“Cumulatively, cases this year is 143% higher compared to the reported cases during the same period in 2021, which was 48,867,” said the DOH.

The DOH also reported 400 deaths due to dengue during the same period.

This means that the current case fatality rate for dengue is at 0.3 percent.

Most dengue cases were from Central Luzon (21,247, 18%), Central Visayas (11,390, 10%), and National Capital Region (11,064, 9%).
