CORONAVIRUS disease (COVID-19) deaths in the Philippines breached the grim milestone of 24,000 yesterday as 108 more succumbed to the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the death toll from the virus climbed to 24,036 from 23,928 last Wednesday for a case fatality rate of 1.74.
The DOH said there were 6,043 new cases, raising the number of infections in the country to 1,378,260.
Active cases rose to 51,410 from 49,862 last Wednesday with 90.6 percent mild cases, 4.5 percent asymptomatic cases, 2 percent severe cases, 1.4 percent critical cases, and 1.4 percent moderate cases.
The DOH said 4,486 more recovered from the virus, raising the number of survivors to 1,302,814. The DOH said this means that 94.5 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
