THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is undertaking a review of the rates of the benefits that government workers are currently receiving to assess if these needs to be adjusted.

In a statement, the DBM also said it has included in the proposed 2023 national budget a P47 million allocation under the Governance Commission for Government-Owned and -Controlled Corporations budget for the conduct of a study on the government compensation structure of the different national government agencies and GOCCs.

The review is aimed at ensuring the competitiveness of government salaries against the salaries of workers in the private sector.

“The DBM wishes to note that the last tranche of the modification of the salary schedule for civilian personnel pursuant to Republic Act No. 11466 or the Salary Standardization Law V will be implemented in 2023. Hence, government employees concerned will have another salary adjustment by next year,” the agency said.

“We would also like to note further that the increase in salary for government workers is carried out thru a legislative measure. Once House bills or Senate bills are filed, the DBM is providing comments/inputs/recommendations on the same,” it added.

On the grant of gratuity pay to job order and contract of service workers, the DBM said it is preparing the corresponding executive issuance for the purpose, which will be endorsed to the Office of the President for consideration.
