A MAGNITUDE 6.1 earthquake rocked Manay, Davao Oriental yesterday morning, two days after a nearly identical tremor hit the area.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred at around 5:57 a.m. with the epicenter located some 78 kilometers southeast of Manay.
Phivolcs said the earthquake, of tectonic in origin, had a depth of 21 kilometers.
It said the shaking was felt at Intensity IV in Manay and Intensity II in General Santos City, Tampakan in South Cotabato, Davao City, Bislig City, and Kidapawan City.
Phivolcs said it is not anticipating any damage from the quake. However, it said it was expecting aftershocks.
Last Tuesday morning, a magnitude 6.2 quake also rocked Manay, with the epicenter located some 57 kilometers southeast of the town. It had a depth of 18 kilometers.
