PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr yesterday vowed to run after errant policemen and send them to jail if they do not stop acting as protectors of illegal drug syndicates operating the country.
“Some don’t want to stop… until now. I would like to address this to the men in uniform of the Philippine National Police… If you do not want to change, I am going to change your life,” said Danao, without naming names, during the flag-raising ceremony in Camp Crame.
He said his warning is not a “psywar.”
“If you are not in cahoots, everything will be in order but if you are (involved), I will use the full force of the law in going after you. To those who are not stopping, I am not joking.
Take note of that,” he also said.
Danao hinted policemen supporting illegal drug syndicates may end up dead if they refuse to stop their illegal activities.
“You cannot bring your money to your graves. You will not be able to use that (money)…
Some refuse to stop even if they already have a lot of money. How much money do you need? How many trucks of money do you want? You cannot bring that to your own graves, gentlemen and ladies. So, I am asking you, put a total stop to this illegal drug menace,” said Danao.
In a press briefing later in the day, Danao said the involvement of policemen in the illegal drugs trade are yet to be validated.
“Some are still involved although these are unvalidated reports,” he said, adding: “But as I said, I just want to give a fair warning to everyone not to be involved. This is addressed to all members (of the PNP), general down to the lower rank (patrolman) and NUP (non-uniformed personnel).”
