“The Solemnity must be observed in all parishes and chapels beginning this year in accord with the declaration of Pope Paul VI and with the liturgical norms of the Church,” said Ongtioco.

This means that all communities must observe all norms and guidelines in the exercise of devotion to the Patroness of Quezon City.

“All are likewise encouraged to promote the devotion and put into practice the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary that lead us closer to her Son, Jesus our Lord,” added Ongtioco.

Since 1646, the second Sunday of October is annually celebrated in honor of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of La Naval de Manila.

The statue was enthroned at the Santo Domingo Church in Quezon City in October 1954 and has since served as its home.

On August 26, 1974, Pope Paul VI declared the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary of La Naval as the Principal Patroness of Quezon City.
