THE number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases reported daily over the past seven days has returned to above the 1,000-mark, the Department of Health (DOH) reported yesterday.

On the other hand, there are 5,363 patients occupying COVID-19 beds, which is 25.8 percent of the 20,825 total beds allocated nationwide.

The independent OCTA Research group said 17 areas in the country continue to have “high” to “very high” COVID-19 positivity rates.

The OCTA said six have very high while 11 have high positivity rates out of the 23 areas it is closely monitoring as of November 12.

Areas with “very high” positivity rates are Isabela (44.1%), Aklan (36.3%), Camarines Sur (33.3%), Benguet (32%), Tarlac (30.3%), and Misamis Oriental (24.6%).

Of the six areas, Aklan, Camarines Sur, and Isabela increased from a week ago, while Benguet, Misamis Oriental, and Tarlac went down.
