THE average daily coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines continues to drop and is now nearing the 100-mark, the Department of Health (DOH) reported yesterday.
According to the latest COVID-19 case bulletin, the average COVID-19 cases was at 113 cases for the period of August 14 to 20, or 789 infections during the seven-day period.
The number is 15 percent lower than cases reported from August 7 to 13, which averaged at 132 cases daily.
The DOH said there were 11 additional severe and critical cases during the past week, with 10 deaths reported.
There are currently 242 severe and critical cases in the country, as of August 20, of which 180 are occupying ICU beds or 11 percent of the 1,636 total ICUs nationwide. — Gerard Naval
