COVID cases climb to more than 2K; 1st time in 10 days

FOR the first time in 10 days, over 2,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) yesterday.

The last time the DOH reported over 2,000 cases was on November 10, when 2,646 new cases were recorded.

Based on the November 21 case bulletin, the DOH said there are 2,227 new COVID-19 cases.

The positivity rate of the country was at 2.8 percent out of the 39,874 tests conducted on November 19.

Nationwide, there were 2,826,410 COVID-19 cases reported as of yesterday.

Among the confirmed cases, the DOH said, there were 175 new deaths, bringing the total to 47,074 fatalities. The case fatality rate stood at 1.67.

The DOH also reported 3,152 more COVID-19 patients who have recovered, bringing the total to 2,758,235 survivors. This means that 97.6 percent of the COVID-19 patients in the country have recovered.

The DOH also reported 21,101 active COVID-19 cases, or about 0.7 percent of the cases in the country.

Of the active cases, 56.9 percent are mild, 20.3 percent are moderate, 13 percent are severe, 5.5 percent are critical, and 4.4 percent are asymptomatic cases.
