COVID-19 cases drop below 250

ON the heels of the lifting of the State of Public Health Emergency due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) said the average daily cases in the country has dropped below 250.

According to the latest COVID-19 Case Bulletin, coronavirus infections averaged at 239 cases daily for the period of July 17 to 23, which is 14 percent lower than cases reported from July 10 to 16, which averaged at 277 cases daily.

In total, the last seven days recorded 1,671 COVID-19 cases.

There were 35 additional severe and critical cases and 32 deaths reported during the past week.

The DOH said there are currently 315 severe and critical cases in the country, as of July 23. Of this number, the report showed that 211 of them are occupying ICU beds.

The number of occupied ICU beds accounts for 11.2 percent of the 1,889 total nationwide.

On the other hand, there are 2,793 patients who are occupying COVID-19 beds, which is 16.6 percent of the 16,825 total COVID-19 beds allocated nationwide. — Gerard Naval
