OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two Chinese nationals during a raid of an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO) hub in Zambales on Wednesday afternoon.

The operation also resulted in the rescue of 18 other Chinese nationals, said CIDG director Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco.

The arrested suspects were Bao Go and one A Hai, who are both facing a case for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9208, or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by RA 10364, or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.

CIDG operatives swooped down at the illegal POGO at No. 9-B Grooper Street at the Subic Freeport Zone at around 3 p.m. Wednesday based on a search warrant issued by an Olongapo City judge.

The PNP applied for the search warrant after receiving information of supposed human trafficking activities in the area.

Operatives also confiscated 18 desktop computers, 12 cell phones, and a safety vault, among others.

The CIDG said it searched the illegal POGO hub in a “lawful and orderly manner” and was witnessed by barangay officials and representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

“The CIDG remains committed to its mission of eradicating human trafficking and ensuring the safety and protection of all individuals from exploitation,” said Francisco.
