Cop using motorcycle seized from suspected pusher nabbed

AGENTS of the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) on Tuesday arrested a member of the National Capital Region Police Office who kept for his personal use a motorcycle seized from a suspected drug pusher in Marikina City.

Police Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, PNP-IMEG director, identified the erring policeman as Pat. Orlando Estrella Perez, 43, detailed with the NCRPO’s regional drug enforcement unit and a resident of Marikina.

Acting on a tip, Lee said his men, together with the Special Action Force and Highway Patrol Group, arrested Perez while he was driving around Marikina City using the Yamaha Mio motorcycle owned by a suspected pusher that the cop and his team arrested in the city last April 5.

Lee said Perez did not include the motorcycle in the inventory of recovered items from the alleged pusher and used it as his own.  Recovered items in police operations must be inventoried to be used later as evidence in court, according to Lee.

Perez is detained at the PNP-IMEG headquarters in Camp Crame.
