THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) wants its own building to be environment-friendly.
In a press briefing after inspecting the site of the proposed Comelec building in Pasay City, Comelec-Administrative Services Department Director Julius Thaddeus Hernan yesterday said their proposed building is fully compliant with the Philippine Green Building Code.

“This will be a green building, one that is resilient. We will be using materials that are environment-friendly,” said Hernan.

“It was particularly considered when the building was designed. It was done in consideration of the Philippine Green Building Code, which was implemented several years ago,” he added.

Among its features, the poll official said, is having a water recycling facility.

“Even the rain water can be converted into something useful, such as in watering plants,” said Hernan, adding the proposed building will also use solar panels for electricity needs.
