DESPITE concerns raised by Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is bent on introducing the internet voting mode in the 2025 overseas polls.

In an interview, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the Commission en banc has reached a decision to push through with the launch of the Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) next year.

“The Comelec en banc has thought deeply about this and we weighed every possible implication, any potential outcomes. In the end, we decided to push through with internet voting,” said Garcia.

“We will just send a letter to Senator Pimentel to explain our side, our position on the matter,” he added.
