STARTING next month, voter registration activities for the May 2022 national and local polls shall be conducted for only four days a week, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

In a phone interview, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said the new policy on voter registration shall be take effect beginning November.

“By next month, we will just have voter registration from Mondays to Thursdays. But, in particular for next week, we will have it from Tuesday to Thursday only since Monday falls on a holiday,” Jimenez said in reference to the observance of the All Souls Day.

In a separate statement, the poll official said all Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) will be conducting disinfection activities every Friday.

“Comelec offices are closed to the public on disinfection days,” said Jimenez.

To recall, when voter registration resumed back in September 1, 2020, registration activities were scheduled for five days, or from Tuesdays to Saturdays.

The Comelec, though, stressed that voter registration hours shall still be from 8 am to 3 pm in all OEOs. — Gerard Naval
