THOSE intending to have their voter registration records reactivated online in time for the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections will have to do it earlier, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has said.
Comelec Resolution No. 10798 states that the period for online application for voter’s reactivation will begin on July 4 and end on July 19.
“For online filing of application for reactivation… all applications shall be received by the Office of the Election Officer through its official email address not later than July 19, 2022 (Tuesday) at 5 p.m.,” the resolution read.
Such online applications include those for reactivation, reactivation with transfer of registration within or correction of entries, reactivation with transfer within and correction of entries, and reactivation with updating of records of Senior Citizen and Persons with Disabilities.
The resolution, however, said that outside of the online application, all other types of voter registration applications will run from July 4 until 23.
Types of voter registration applications are registration, transfer, change/corrections of entries in the registration records, reactivation of registration records, inclusion of registration records and reinstatement of name in the list of voters, and transfer of registration records from foreign post to local.
Also open during the said period are the updating of records of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, members of Indigenous Peoples’ (IPs) or Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs), and other members of vulnerable sectors.
“(These applications) shall be personally filed at the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) of the city/municipality, where the applicant resides, during office hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from July 4, 2022 to July 23, 2022,” said the Comelec.
The Comelec resolution likewise ordered all OEOs to conduct satellite registration activities within their covered cities/municipalities during the first week of registration period “to ensure wider voter participation.”
Satellite registration activities may be held in barangay halls/centers, public and private schools and universities, malls and commercial establishments, and other public and convenient places.
Similarly, the Comelec said there must be exclusive special satellite registration activities for the youth, senior citizens, women, PWDs, and members of the IPs and ICCs.
