The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will reevaluate the statement of contributions and expenditures (SOCE) of President Duterte to determine if there is campaign overspending as long as there will is a formal request, said spokesman James Jimenez.

Jimenez said the poll body learned of the call for review by elections watchdog Kontra Daya only through news reports.

“To date, the Comelec has not received a formal request for such an investigation from Kontra Daya or any other group,” he said.

Last Monday, Kontra Daya urged the Comelec to look into the possibility that Duterte overspent for the campaign in the 2016 presidential elections by reviewing his SOCE.

The group said there is new information coming from a recent Senate inquiry, which showed the Duterte camp bought P182 million worth of commercial posts from ABS-CBN alone but declared only about P110 million in total campaign ad spending.
