THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday warned politicians and political parties against falling prey to individuals making false claims that they can manipulate results of the May 2025 elections with the help of the poll body’s Information and Technology Department (ITD) and the new automated election system (AES) provider, Miru Systems.
“This serves as a warning to all candidates, government officials, political parties against patronizing or dealing with these individuals. They are making false claims,” said Elections chairman George Garcia.
“They cannot manipulate the election results. There is no one they can talk to within the Comelec or our service provider. They are just deceiving you so they can get your money,” Garcia stressed.
The poll chief said they are issuing the warning after getting information that there are already individuals in the Visayas, Mindanao, and even parts of Luzon making such claims.
He said that in exchange for a large sum of money, the unscrupulous individuals are supposedly claiming that they can manipulate the poll results in only five minutes.
“We have been able to monitor that there are individuals going around and offering to talk to the Comelec’s service provider and ITD personnel,” Garcia said, adding: “They are proliferating in Mindanao, Visayas, and even some in Luzon. These are false claims in exchange of large sums of money.”
Last week, the Comelec declared the joint venture of Miru Systems Co Ltd, Integrated Computer Systems, St. Timothy Construction Corporation, and Centerpoint Solutions Technologies, Inc. (MIRU-ICS-STCC-CPSTI) as the winning bidder for the Full Automation System with Transparency Audit/Count (FASTrAC) project that is set to be used in the May 2025 polls.
