Host-actor-recording star Billy Crawford is supportive of wife Coleen Garcia’s new project, “Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko,” a Viva One series directed by the award-winning Carlo Enciso Catu (“Ari: My Life with a King,” “Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon”).
It is Coleen’s first series in a long time and her reunion with “Exes Baggage” co-star Carlo Aquino. Before shooting, Coleen revealed she and Carlo, with director Carlo Catu, had dinner together. “So parang meron kaming getting to know stage para ma-break lang ‘yung wall before starting,” she said.
Coleen said it was a breeze working with Carlo, even in their most intimate scenes as sweethearts in the series. What was her husband Billy’s reaction to seeing the trailer of “Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko”?
“Sabi nya bitin. Nabibitin sya. Gusto nya makita the rest of it. Ang sabi nya ang ganda ng shots – same though kami nang makita yung teaser. Ang ganda ng shots, ang ganda ng kulay, maaliwalas.
“Parang hindi masakit?” Carlo butted in.
“Masakit ba?” asked Coleen.
Coleen and Billy wed in 2018 in Balesin. The couple has a son, Amari, who will be three years old this coming September.
“Supportive naman sobra si Billy sa lahat ng ginagawa ko, kahit dito sa project na ‘to,” Coleen said.
“Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko” is based on the book of poems of the same title by Marcelo Santos III, author of “Para sa Hopeless Romantic” and “Para sa Broken Hearted.” Coleen plays Allie, the girlfriend of Benedict (Carlo Aquino). Theirs is a whirlwind romance and years later, Benedict proposes to Allie, and the two look forward to their years of growing old together. As they prepare for their wedding, the buried cracks and flaws of their relationship start to resurface and make them rethink their decision.
“Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko” also stars Rhen Escaño, Jerome Ponce, Kiko Estrada and Ryza Cenon. It is a heart-wrenching series about love and when to give it a second or even a third chance. It streams exclusively on Viva One starting August 21.
