A UNITED league with one national champion.
With that mind, Chooks-to-Go president Ronald Mascariñas announced in an online press conference last Saturday that his camp is eyeing to launch a league where the top teams in three regional leagues his firm is supporting– MPBL, NBL, WNBL, and VisMin Super Cup– will clash for the title.
“For 5-on-5, once quarantine restrictions are eased, we will launch the Champions League where the top teams from each of the three leagues will compete to be the National Champion at magiging pinakamatikas na Manok ng Bayan,” Mascariñas said.
“We will keep our ears close to the ground to figure out what our fans want and will continue to innovate for them. After all, we are doing this primarily for the fans,” he added.
Mascariñas said the Champions League will be likely patterned after the US NCAA Tournament.
“What we are thinking about is a sudden death tournament. Knockout style like the US NCAA March Madness. We are thinking of starting it with the top two teams from each league gaining automatic seeding,” the amiable executive and sports patron said.
“Then there will be a wild card tournament involving the next six teams below the top two teams in each league that will vie for the last two spots in the eight-team field.”
