OPERATIVES of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group rescued a Chinese kidnap victim and arrested his three abductors, two of them Chinese, at a Pasay City hotel on Tuesday, it was announced yesterday.

The AKG identified the rescued victim as Sun Xiao Lin, 27, and the suspects as Lie Fei, 28; Ye Hong, 27, both Chinese; and their Filipino cohort, Alvin Cardeño Israel, 36.

Lin was snatched by the suspects last Sunday afternoon while on his way to the Lord’s Grace Medical Center and Industrial Clinic in Pasay City where he was supposed to undergo a COVID test, a requirement for employment at a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) company.

The kidnappers contacted a cousin of Lin and demand ransom also on Sunday. Lin’s family paid P1.49 million in ransom through an online transaction later that day.

But the victim was not released, prompting the victim’s cousin to report the incident to the police on Monday night.

The AKG rescued Lin and arrested the three suspects at the Atrium Hotel in Pasay City at around 11 p.m.
