DOMESTIC workers in Central Luzon are set to receive a monthly minimum wage of P6,000 starting April 1, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

This after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) – Central Luzon issued Wage Order No. RBIII-DW-04 increasing the monthly minimum wage rate of kasambahays in Region III.

Under the wage order, there will be an increase of P1,000 in chartered cities and first-class municipalities and P1,500 in other municipalities.

“The increase would bring the monthly minimum wage in the region to P6,000,” said DOLE.

It said the wage increase for kasambahays is expected to benefit a total of 126,762 domestic workers in Central Luzon.

The Central Luzon wage board said the wage increase considered the results of the survey conducted and the public hearing held last month.

It also factored in the needs of domestic workers and their families, the employer’s capacity to pay, and the existing socio-economic conditions in the region.

With the issuance of the wage order in Central Luzon, only the Central Visayas wage board has yet to issue salary adjustments for domestic workers.
