AN official of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) yesterday urged individuals with true intent to serve others and are good-hearted to consider running in the October 30 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
In a radio interview, CBCP-Office on Stewardship Chairman Bishop Broderick Pabillo said he would personally encourage those wanting to become true public servants to file their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs).
“Public service is a calling from the Lord. Those who are kind-hearted and have pure intentions to serve are encouraged to run and serve in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan,” said Pabillo.
“Those with good intentions to serve others should definitely run. Public service is a sign of love for God,” he added.
The prelate also called on the general public to vote for candidates that have true intentions of becoming servant leaders.
He said the faithful shouldn’t wait for the next national and local elections for them to elect good leaders.
“In the forthcoming elections, we have the opportunity to initiate change in government, starting with the barangay,” said the bishop.
“Let us use this opportunity to effect changes in government,” The COC filing period for the BSKE is set from August 28 to September 2 while the elections are set on October 30.
