WITH Taal volcano threatening to erupt, Imus (Cavite) Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista yesterday called on the faithful to pray for the calming of the second most active volcano in the country.

In a radio interview, Evangelista said it is imperative for everyone to pray so that there won’t be a destructive eruption.

“Let us pray so that there won’t be an eruption by Taal Volcano so that people won’t be adversely affected,” said Evangelista.

With the volcano continuously emitting volcanic gases and sulfur dioxide, the prelate said the public must take the necessary precautions.

He said there is a need for the faithful to always adhere to health advisories.

“Each individual and every family must have the initiative to take good care of their health,” said Evangelista.

Since early this month, Taal volcano has been restive, with thick volcanic smog being emitted late last week and into the weekend.

This prompted local authorities to issue health advisories to prevent the spread of respiratory ailments, especially in Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas.
