SAN Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, the president of the Metro Manila Council (MMC), has advised motorist to appeal their cases before the adjudication board if they think their arrest under the single ticketing system is wrong.
Zamora said they have received complaints that the ticketing system penalties, which range from P500 to P10,000, are too severe.
“If they (motorists) committed no violation, they won’t receive any fines. The fines need to be felt as severe, otherwise it would only encourage violators to commit another offense in the future thinking they can afford it,” Zamora said.
He said motorists arrested under the single ticketing system have 10 days to appeal their cases before the adjudication board.
He also said the single ticketing system would benefit more people in the long run.
The pilot run of the single ticketing system will start on May 2, with seven National Capital Region cities participating. — Christian Oineza
