LT. Gens. Camilo Cascolan and Guillermo Eleazar are moving up the PNP hierarchy as the police force’s No. 2 and 3 men, respectively, new PNP chief Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa disclosed yesterday.
Gamboa said Cascolan will be his successor as PNP deputy chief for administration, a post the former had been occupying while the concurrent PNP officer in charge since October last year.
President Duterte announced the designation of Gamboa as the new PNP chief on Friday last week.
Gamboa bested Cascolan, the current PNP deputy chief for operations (the PNP’s No. 3 man), and chief of the PNP directorial staff Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar (the PNP’s No. 4 man) for the highest PNP post.
“It’s automatic, general Cascolan will be the deputy chief for administration. General Guilor (Eleazar) would be designated as the deputy chief for operations (replacing Cascolan),” Gamboa sai.
Asked who will be the successor of Eleazar as the chief of the PNP directorial staff, Gamboa said: “Guess who because it will require a lot of evaluation because the chief directorial staff is the implementor of my policies in Camp Crame.”
On whether National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas would be Eleazar’s successor, Gamboa said: “No comment.”
Eleazar served as NCRPO chief before he was named chief of PNP directorial staff in October last year.
Gamboa said the PNP was due to finalize yesterday the evaluation of the performance of regional police directors, national support unit commanders, and directorial staff.
“Tomorrow, I will study the result of the evaluation. This evaluation did not just come from thin air. It was also publicly announced during a conference on the rating of the different commanders,” he said.
