PNP chief Dionardo Carlos has ordered a thorough investigation on the series of attacks against Bureau of Customs personnel, one of whom was shot dead in Manila last Friday.

“It is unlikely that this is an isolated case since the first two incidents happened last December. Then, the next one was last January,” Carlos said.

“Now, another BOC employee was shot dead. I am instructing our investigators to get all the necessary pieces of evidence,” Carlos.

The latest victim, BOC information technology officer Gil Cua Manlapaz, 47, was shot in the head after he had entered his car parked near his house in Sta Ana, Manila.

The incident was the fourth attack against BOC personnel since December. The earlier attacks led to the death of one and wounding of two others.

Last February 9, unidentified suspects hurled a grenade at the house of BOC Deputy Commissioner for Enforcement Teddy Raval in Quezon City. No one was injured in the explosion.

The PNP said investigators have retrieved a closed-circuit television footage showing Manlapaz being stalked by the suspects prior to the shooting.

“This will be helpful since we also have CCTV records of the previous crime incidents. Now, we want to find out if there are similarities on how these injustices were executed,” said Carlos.
