SAYING all workers in Calabarzon are dealing with the soaring inflation, different labor groups under the banner of Workers Initiative for Wage Increase (WIN4WIN) yesterday filed a salary increase petition aimed at having a uniform P750 minimum wage rate in Region 4A.

In a statement after filing the wage petition before the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)-Calabarzon, WIN4WIN said: “The petition aims to increase the daily minimum wage at four area classifications, which are now P470, P429, P390, and P350.

WIN4WIN spokesperson Mary Ann Castillo said: “To have a common Calabarzon minimum wage, an increase of P280, P321, P360, and P400 is petitioned for said current wage classifications.”

The labor group said the wage petition, if granted, will enable all minimum wage earners in Calabarzon to cope equally with the impacts of the rising prices of goods and services.

“We are showing the wide range of unity of workers in Calabarzon to have a single minimum wage rate for all,” said Castillo.

She said they are hoping the Calabarzon wage board will immediately heed their call for salary adjustments.

“We hope they will listen to the cry of the workers. We need a just increase in our wages,” said Castillo.

WIN4WIN is composed of 12 labor organizations, trade union centers, federations, and other local workers groups.

They include the Metal Workers Alliance of the Philippines (MWAP), Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino Southern Tagalog (BMP ST), Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), Federation of Free Workers (FFW), Confederation of Filipino Workers (CFW), National Federation of Labor Union (NAFLU), Drug, Food and Allied workers Federation (DFA), Kilos na Manggagawa Southern Tagalog (KNM ST), TF2- Kilos Damit (TF2- KD FFW), Workers Assistance Center (WAC), Workers in Semiconductor and Electronics Network (WISENET), and Kilusan ng Manggagawang Makabayan-Katipunan (KMM- KATIPUNAN).
