TWENTY-THREE persons were rescued last Tuesday afternoon after their boat capsized off Magsaysay town in Occidental Mindoro.
The Provincial Disaster Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said the victims were found by its rescue team between Barangay Alibog and Garza island in Magsaysay at around 4 p.m.
In a statement, the PDRRMC said the victims were coming from an outing at Garsa island when they figured in the mishap.
It said the boat sustained a hole and took in water, causing it to capsize.
It said the victims contacted the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRO) to seek assistance. The MDRRO then relayed the distress call to the PDRRMO, which promptly sent a rescue team.
