The BLE said production and operations managers are also in demand with 2,153 job vacancies.

Completing the top five are demands for construction laborers with 1,984 vacancies.

Also serving as a source of BLE information is the government-run job-matching portal PhilJobNet.

Based on the August 2023 Labor Force Survey, the number of unemployed Filipinos is pegged at around 2.21 million.

DMW officials set to meet with Saudi counterparts

OFFICIALS of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) are set to fly to Saudi Arabia this weekend to discuss with their counterparts the back wage claims of around 14,000 displaced Filipino workers, among other  issues.

“As of now, we still cannot provide specific details as to when the claims will be released,” said Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac, DMW officer-in-charge.

Cacdac is going to Saudi with Undersecretaries Bernard Olalia and PY Caunan.

Thousands of Filipinos working in Saudi Arabia were displaced and left unpaid in 2015 and 2016 after several Saudi Arabian construction firms declared bankruptcy.

In November last year, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman committed to shoulder the unpaid salaries of the displaced Filipinos.

President Marcos Jr., in his State of the Nation Address last July, said the unpaid salaries and benefits were being processed.

The President is set to fly to Saudi Arabia later this month to attend the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit.

A potential bilateral talk with either King Salman or Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is being eyed for Marcos during the visit.
