THE Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) yesterday called on Filipinos of all religions to join Pope Francis today, Thursday, in prayer and fasting to help humanity overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a circular addressed to archbishops and bishops, CBCP Secretary General Fr. Marvin Mejia invited Filipinos to join the “Day of Prayer and Fasting.”
“The CBCP Permanent Council requests you to invite all men and women ‘believers in God, the All-Creator’, to join in the said appeal,” said Mejia.
Manila Archdiocese Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo, responding to the invitation, Pabillo asked the faithful in the city to join the one-day activity.
“I ask our faithful in the Archdiocese to fully participate in this activity. To make our act of charity concrete, I invite everyone to extend material help to at least one person within your reach, no matter the amount, to make that person/s feel the care we have for each other,” Pabillo said.
Last May 3, the Pontiff called on the faithful to pray, fast, and do acts of charity on May 14.
