A woman with bipolar disorder recently appeared on the show “CIA with BA” seeking help after a sex video of her was distributed to her social media contacts. Elaine, who had been forced into sex work due to her challenging circumstances, initially faced a lack of clients. To attract customers, she turned to social media, where she encountered someone posing as an agent requesting a sex video for a higher fee from a Chinese client.
After recording the video using her phone, Elaine was contacted by someone claiming to be associated with the agent, who requested her email address to send a verification code. This was a scam that led to her social media accounts, e-wallets, and the video being hacked. The hacker then began selling the video, including to her friends on social media.
Senator Pia Cayetano emphasized three key points regarding Elaine’s case: the need for caution when joining social media groups, the illegality of distributing such videos under the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009 (authored by Senator Cayetano), and the potential accountability of those responsible under the Trafficking in Persons Act.
Dr. Ernest Nora, a general psychiatrist, explained that Elaine’s decisions might be influenced by her bipolar disorder, which includes mood swings between depression and mania. He noted that her condition could contribute to hypersexual behavior. Dr. Nora also mentioned Elaine’s rare androgen insensitivity syndrome, which may affect her sexual impulses.
“It’s a mood disorder na meron pong extremes,” he explained.
He stressed that while medication can manage the condition, ongoing therapy will be essential for long-term coping.
“CIA with BA,” which continues the legacy of the late Senator Rene Cayetano, airs every Sunday at 11 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
